What is dermaplaning?

Jan 26, 2024 | Waxing & Skin

Dermaplaning is a deep exfoliating treatment that removes dead skin and vellus hair (otherwise known as peach fuzz) from the face. In addition, it can help your skincare products to absorb more effectively, and even help makeup go on more smoothly. The result is smooth, glowing skin that looks brighter and feels softer.

The process is very simple and quick, painless, and with no downtime. The treatment will start with a quick cleansing of the face, followed by preparing the skin with a facial oil to help glide the tool over the surface of the skin. Then the surface of the skin is scraped with light, feathery strokes using a scalpel. Finally, after the hair and dead skin cells have been removed, we moisturize the skin and apply sunscreen. This process usually takes about 20-30 minutes from start to finish.

It is important to note that dermaplaning cannot be done on skin with active breakouts or acne, and cannot be done on skin with open lesions or wounds. In addition, we cannot perform dermaplaning on men because the hair on a man’s face is far too coarse for this treatment. Sorry guys!
